Viruses are in, mostly. Also, I've realized I didn't plan this grid thing well at all. If I finish, it's going to be much less than I had first imagined.
INVASION.
9 : 4 8 a m (edt) (18th)
I'm getting some of the real infection parts in, namely virus spreading:
I've also added a speed meter (might move it though) and pretty much cemented the existence of a mini-map, even though it was originally just debug output. Fascinating!
7 : 2 3 a m (edt) (18th)
I totally just fixed ship movement (got speed limiting in) and made the camera scrolling much nicer. The latter even only took a simple change of a numeric constant. Indeed!
I'm pretty pleased now. Controlling the ship is, just by itself, kind of fun.

Put bullets in. For once, I actually like how they and the firing spread look. Amazing.
Still need to fix ship movement.
1 1 : 5 0 p m (edt) (17th)
I've changed the resolution (maybe) to 640 by 480, and I might make the world a lot smaller; it's too hard to navigate. I still need to limit the ship's velocity (it can get going way too fast to control), but I've got the beginnings of the main node structure:
That blue construction? It rotates.
9 : 3 7 p m (edt) (17th)
Just woke up. I've put in stupidly simple trails:
Now all that's left is the most complex part! Yay!
8 : 5 8 a m (edt) (17th)
The little bit of the Verlet integration technique I'm shamelessly lifting from that Hitman article is great
It causes the triangle to rotate, pleasingly. I hadn't expected it. I should have, it being obviously a result of the relaxation, but it was a nice surprise.
7 : 5 8 a m (edt) (17th)
I have a floater structure and a linked list I'm calling floaters, and I don't care.
1 : 2 0 a m (edt) (17th)
After three hours of sleep and a hour and twenty minutes of designing, I have a game idea! I think it might be fun to play. Even though I started fresh, this idea could still satisfy at least two other themes. MAYBE MY SUBCONCIOUS IS CRAFTIER THAN ME.
